JicaChips to Exhibit First & Only Chips Made from Jicama at Expo West

New Brand Ups the Ante in Healthy Snacking Category

Congers, NY – February 9, 2016 – Orto Foods Inc’s JicaChips brand will be exhibiting at the upcoming Natural Products Expo West by New Hope Natural Media. Expo West is the world's largest natural, organic and healthy products event, bringing together an inspired community of over 71,000 industry members and more than 2,700 exhibiting companies. At the show JicaChips will showcase its new line of non-GMO, gluten free, baked chips made from the root vegetable, jicama, to the natural products industry in Anaheim, California from March 11-13.

JicaChip’s five new flavors feature unique tastes to attract a variety of snackers: sea salt, smoked BBQ, white cheddar, spicy soy ginger and cinnamon sugar. A bag of JicaChips is around 100 calories, contains lots of fiber and is very low fat. Similar to the taste of a potato, jicama carries refreshing notes of apple and water chestnut.

“We’re excited to introduce a new healthy snacking option made from jicama, a root vegetable that is very underutilized in the U.S.,” said JicaChip’s Co-founder Melissa Colella. “Healthy snackers will appreciate the health benefits of jicama, a super food, which is fiber-rich, contains inulin (a prebiotic), and is low glycemic,” continued Melissa.

The brand is gearing up for a nationwide launch during spring 2016 and expects savvy retailers to stock JicaChips, as grocers are seeking to meet the increasing demand for more unique healthy snacking options. Each item will be available for the suggested retail price of $2.99. JicaChips resonates primarily with health-conscious, on-the-go snackers looking for healthy potato chip alternatives, such as, Millennials, late Generation Xers and moms.
